Rumba Dances into My Heart

During a jazz concert in our local park, a tiny tabby wandered up on stage and stole the show. The Band named her "Rumba" since that was the type of music they were playing when she appeared. During the rest of the show she followed the singer around the stage during the audience to watch her instead of the human performer.

After the show I went to see her and since no one else came forward, brought her home. The other three cats in the household (all rescues themselves) weren't too thrilled and when Rumba set eyes on the large black male she immediately smacked him all about the face and ears. Two weeks later and he still stays out of her way.

The next morning the vet gave her a clean bill of health (save ear mites and fleas) and figured she was about 10 weeks old. She was underweight and had clearly been dumped in the park. A neighbor later mentioned that she had found a marmalade male of about the same age in the same park while walking her dogs and that she had found a home for him as well. I don't know if Rumba has any more siblings in the park but I haven't been able to find any.

It has been two weeks now and Rumba has settled in nicely. I have no idea why someone would abandon kittens in a park known to be home to hawks and other predators. I am glad though that this little jazzy kit is safe and warm today.
